Corporate Calendar Printing: What to Decide Before Year-End

Before you order corporate calendars for 2027, decide seven things in order: format, size, binding, paper, how holidays and dates are shown, branding, and quantity with delivery timing. Each choice affects the next, and each one is easier to settle before artwork starts than after. Work back from 1 January and the list below keeps your calendars on desks and walls on time.

Wall calendars give the largest viewing area, which suits offices, reception areas, and distributors. Desk calendars sit at arm’s length and get used daily, so they work well as client gifts. A single-sheet poster calendar shows the whole year at a glance.

If your recipients write more than they glance, a planner may fit better than a calendar. Our calendar printing page shows the formats we produce.

2. Set the Size and Page Layout

Size follows placement. A calendar in a shared office needs dates large enough to read from a few steps away, while a desk calendar can be much smaller. Most wall calendars use one month per page, with an image above the date grid.

A 14-month layout adds a month at each end, which helps if the calendar will stay up through the year change. If staff will write appointments on it, leave a clear space around each date.

3. Choose the Binding

Wire-O binding lays flat and turns smoothly, and it usually comes with a hanging loop for wall calendars. Saddle stitching, which is stapled, is simpler and generally the lower-cost option for wall calendars. Desk calendars normally use wire-O mounted on a folding stand.

For a wall calendar the binding sits at the top. Think about where it will hang, because a heavier calendar needs a sturdier hanging point.

4. Match Paper to How It Will Be Used

The cover takes twelve months of handling, so a heavier coated stock with lamination holds up better. Coated paper in the 100 to 170 gsm range reproduces photographs well for the inside pages without making the calendar bulky.

If people will write on the pages, choose uncoated stock instead, since pen marks sit better on it than on a gloss coating. Our guide to lamination types explains how matte and gloss behave on a cover.

5. Decide How Holidays and Dates Appear

This is the decision most calendar guides skip, and it matters in the UAE. New Year’s Day on 1 January and National Day on 2 and 3 December are fixed. Islamic holidays follow moon sighting, so they are only expected dates until the authorities confirm them.

For 2027, Eid Al Fitr is expected around 9 to 12 March and Arafat Day around 15 May, followed by Eid Al Adha around 16 to 18 May. Each can shift by about a day.

A printed calendar cannot be corrected once it is on a wall. You can print the fixed holidays only, mark the Islamic ones as expected, or leave them unmarked. A short note such as “Islamic holiday dates subject to moon sighting” costs nothing and avoids a wrong date sitting beside your logo.

6. Plan Branding and Finishes Around Readability

A calendar works because people read it every day, so the date grid comes first and the branding fits around it. Put your logo on the cover and keep it small on each month page. Choose images that relate to your work, such as projects, products, or your team, and keep them from running into the numbers.

One finish on the cover is usually enough. Foil stamping on the year or the logo gives contrast against a matte laminated cover without making the pages harder to use.

7. Settle Quantity, Delivery, and Timeline

Count your recipients before you choose a quantity: staff, key clients, distributors, and a few spares. Decide who gets a wall calendar and who gets a desk one, since the two cost differently.

If the calendars are gifts, think about presentation too. A custom box or sleeve turns a calendar into something clients open rather than just receive.

Work the timeline backward from 1 January. Allow time for artwork, a proof, printing, binding, and delivery, and remember the National Day holiday on 2 and 3 December. Starting in October or early November leaves room for one round of changes. For larger runs, our guides to what affects offset printing cost and preparing artwork for printing cover cost drivers and file setup.

What This Means for Your Brand

A calendar is one of the few printed items that stays in front of a client for twelve months. That makes legibility and build quality matter more than clever design. A calendar with clear dates, a sturdy cover, and a restrained logo gets used every day, and a calendar that gets used keeps your name visible.

Work through the seven decisions in order and the artwork becomes much simpler to brief.
